This year I decided to submit a song for NPR's Tiny Desk Contest. They've been running it since 2015, I think, and I wanted to submit last year, but I wasn't really in the best place to do so.
This year, I was planning to submit a song I'd already written - maybe something from Compass Rose - but eventually decided I wanted to try to write something new for it. I'm pleased to say that I was able to write, revise (multiple times, with the help of my lovely wife), record and submit a new song, "Across the Aisle."
I mean, being realistic, there's nothing special about the recording, and it's a bit of an uphill battle being a solo performer, but it felt good to complete something, and it felt really good to make a commitment to myself and actually follow through on it.
You can listen to and watch the submission on my YouTube channel.
